What you'll need:
- Paper template - download and print it here
- Sewing needle and thread
- Felt fabric - why not personalise the design with your own choice of colours?
- Toy stuffing
- Scissors
How to make your felt Matryoshka:
Step 1: Cut out the paper pattern pieces on your choice of felt colours. You may find it easier to cut the very small pieces (e.g. the lips and eyes) once you have pinned them on to the felt.
Step 2: Sew the lips, eyes and hair to the face using tiny invisible stitches.
Step 3: Sew the head scarf to the top of one piece of the body.
Step 4: Sew the face onto this same piece of the body.
Step 5: Sew the scarf to the same piece of the body.
Step 6: Decorate your doll's hair and dress with flowers and leaves in your choice of colours.
Step 7: Stitch the border along the bottom.
Step 8: Sew your doll together, either by placing right sides together and machine or hand sewing all the way round, leaving a hole for stuffing, or by placing wrong sides together and blanket stitching all the way round, leaving a hole for stuffing.
Step 9: Fill with toy stuffing, then neatly oversew the gap closed.
