Ever wondered what goes into creating one of our Mini Matchbox Cross Stitch Kits? Each tiny design is the result of teamwork, testing, and thoughtful attention to detail. From the very first draft to the moment the kits are ready on the shelf, here’s how it all comes together behind the scenes.
It starts with an idea - and a conversation. Once the concept and message behind the design are agreed with our Creative Director, Jo, I get to work bringing it to life using a cross stitch pattern software, where the initial design takes shape. Once the chart is ready, it’s exported and stitched to make sure it not only looks great on screen but works beautifully in real life.

While the sample is being stitched, I write the Bill of Materials (or BOM), and I take the cut-out image and contents photo for the kit. These are then passed on to our brilliant graphic designer, who uses them to create the lovely front and back labels. I also create the full-colour instructions and send them off to be printed, making sure they’re clear, beginner-friendly, and easy to follow.

Once the labels and instructions are ready, our brilliant production team steps in. They’re hard at work bringing the kits to life - packing each matchbox by hand with care and precision, making sure every tiny element is just right. Before long, they’re on the shelf and ready to make their way to crafters all over the world.

Once they’re live, our marketing team steps in to spread the word - sharing the new kits with our community, telling the story behind each one, and helping them find their way into the hands of curious makers everywhere.
From start to finish, each Mini Matchbox Cross Stitch Kit is a true team effort - thoughtfully designed, lovingly packed, and created to spark joy in every stitch.
Happy Stitching!
